Evacuating New York City |
We were the last human beings attempting the escape from New York City.
A virus has let loose on the world, and has infected everyone with a
plague which turns normal people into blood sucking zombies.* The last
survivors, we stream down Dover Street toward the East River. Straight ahead of us, Blackhawk helicopters are transporting the last
few thousand of us away, landing on a pier jutting out under the Brooklyn
Bridge. Near panic ensues as we attempt to flee. Police and armed military
personnel hold us back while they seek to maintain control; but the
crowd surges forward. Captain Robert Neville makes it through. We all try to follow. Then,
then -- it's all over. Our chances destroyed. Our despair palpable. Alas, we return to our tents, for we are really the extras who bring Richard Matheson's short novel: "I Am Legend" to life. This is our story.
