Dear Marge,
Today is Boxing Day, a good old English holiday so the bank is closed for it. I went to the Du for Christmas and we did have a good party, turkey, plum pudding, champagne and all of the Americans in one party on Christmas eve made it seem like Christmas even though I went swimming before the party and played tennis on Christmas day.
I was Santa Claus for quite a few people this year because the people on the Du can not get down to Monrovia very easily. Personally I would not want to come because the road is so rough that it is as hard as driving three hundred miles at home even though we always drive with a chauffeur.
I have been to a couple of really nice parties. I imagine much nicer ones than I would have gone to at home, but I could do with a day's snow and a night at home. Don't worry I am not homesick while I can see palms waving, hear the swish of the surf, or see the royal purple of the bougainville.
Mr. Hibbard did read the acknowledgements to his invitation.
