...him to ice them, but he got the icing too thin so I ask him first how much baking powder he put in the cakes and told him to put in more (I hope I was right) and then I asked him whether he let the icing get hard if small drops were put in water. He showed me and I told him to wait until they got harder. He could make cakes ten times better than I but I can help him make his better. That was my lesson for that day.
Really I thought this letter was going to be extremely short, which it isn't, and dull (?); but I seem to be able to rattle on without much effort.
One of my messengers came up after the bank keys, to clean. He had some cheap perfume on and I asked him about it. He said, "It is fine! I got him at P.Z." The Z is given the English pronunciation "Zed" rather than our "Zee", by the way.
Seasons at home seem to change so rapidly. Here it is either a little cooler or a little warmer; or it rains or it doesn't rain. It seems just yesterday that it was so cold at home and now it is hot. When I get old I never will be able to say - "back in '34 when it was so cold or hot so and so happened".
Time for work --
Sincerely,
