Native construction methods still flourished in 1934-35
when Mr. Fry worked for the U.S.T.C. These photographs capture
some of the construction materials and methods. Framing
was thin trunks of trees. Walls were covered with a thick
cement made with mud and fiber, or plaited fibrous sheets.
Roofs were thatched. Other houses showed signs of western
influence, including flat, metal roofs.
A few of the photograhs are included in other sections,
but here the focus is on the buildings.
