Brass Bell Bead Anklet
Personal Gear, Jewelry, Anklet
private collection of
Walter Logan Fry
|
|
|
The jewelry collected by Walter Logan Fry included
jewelry made of silver (see Adornment Gallery One), brass
and aluminum; but it also included one other rather
unusual material: elephant's hoof. The four elephant hoof
bracelets in his collection were embedded with small
nuggets of aluminum.
One day in the market, he photographed a young girl with
two young boys. As you can see in the detail of the
photograph, the girl was wearing two elephant hoof
bracelets, and the older of the two boys was wearing at
least one.
