Notes on Levi and Mary (Snyder) Stahl
The "History of the Stahl Family" refers to both Connersville, Pennsylvania and McConnellsville, Pennsylvania. I do not find a Connersville, Pennsylvania on Google Maps, however; but there is a Connellsville, Pennsylvania. Perhaps Connellsville, PA morphed into two different names in the retelling of the family stories (or in the process of writing and typing the stories). Note that Connellsville, Pennsylvania is situated on the Youghiogheny River; and that the following story is told of a young Levi Stahl:
[Levi] always loved to fish and to hunt. A story is told of him at the age of 18, while watching an ice jam in the river at McConnellsville, Pa., a large fish was thrown upon an ice jam by a huge cake of ice. Forgetting all danger young Levi made a leap upon the ice heap, in a bound or two he had his prize, in bewilderment of his more cautious friends. A pole was put through the gills of the fish, and when the pole was placed on shoulders, the fish's tail touched the ground.
