It is a quarter to six and the sun against the clouds makes a most beautiful picture in the clouds, and I can look far across the bay to virgin forests on the other side.

Do you know that coffee blossoms look and smell like orange blossoms or jasmine? I was surprised but it is true.

The day after tomorrow two Germans and two Americans from the plantations are going home. Rut -- by the way his Uncle runs the Rutledge Drug Stores in Akron -- could make any man's asylum, but he has been out here thirty-one months and is a steady drinker. He should be having a vacation.

Change of guards at the mansion, I can hear the bugles down the street. New guards strut for fifteen minutes after the change and by ten they are all fast asleep.

Rice grows like wheat only the fields are a vivid green.

I have two green and one black and yellow scarabs, only the people here call them June bugs. The green ones are translucent and are beautiful.

The color of the sky is draining out but the moonlight will be so bright tonight that the street lights will not be turned on.
