I just got the letter you wrote March fourth - on the English Mail, Sunday. Two months! Mail is a long time in coming. This will go home on the mail which is due in an hour or two. That is an advantage I have - I can meet the mails because this is a port.
I bought a Leopard skin yesterday and I wish there was some way of sending it home but I suppose the mail is the only way and I haven't much faith in the post-office.
The tan business is a funny thing. We have to wear helmets from nine to four so we are always shaded and consequently I have only the palest of tans. When we go swimming in the heat of the day we wear helmets and if you don't think a person looks funny in a helmet and swimming suit - you should see one.
Did I tell you Julius Fleischman was in? We entertained here and at the Du and Chuck and I went aboard the yacht for dinner and breakfast the next morning. It was a very luxurious boat. Only by the roll of the vessel would you tell you were on board a boat rather than in a most modern house ashore.
Forty whites in town was not a surprise. I was expecting it. At home one never associates with more than a few people and the rest. . .
