The ocean is nice today there is enough wind to kick the waves into white caps and the sun has been out most of the day making a blue background for the white foam.

This afternoon the U.S. Consul Mr. Myers was telling tales of his travels. In his thirty odd years as an American representative he has been all over the world. At times he almost proximates the yarns of the Captain but of course the Captain has much the edge.

This machine is a new machine and a good one but if you have tried to run one with the floor moving at various angles you can see why it is hard to space properly at all times. Just as you hit the bar the sea will rise to met the roll or as you throw the carriage the ship will roll with it and spend the force of the throw.

We are following the fortieth parallel on the Great Circle Route. Our first port of call is Madiera where I hope to mail this as well as the letters or daily notes that I am planning to write.
